1/4 Bag (17kg) Sivetz Used Coffee Roaster
With Cooling Tray
1999 Model — Refurbed in 2012
Some names in the coffee roasting equipment world immediately conjure up vivid images—and Sivetz might just lead the pack. When you think about Sivetz, what comes to mind? Maybe you think of a utilitarian, no-frills workhorse. Perhaps you imagine its old-school approach: no automation or data logging, just straightforward fluid-bed roasting.
Whatever the image, there's no doubt that when Michael Sivetz built the first Sivetz in 1974, he created an innovative roaster that, despite lacking in aesthetic appeal, can consistently turn out some sexy roasts.
If that's what you're looking for, then this 1999 1/4-Bag (17kg) Sivetz used coffee roaster might make the perfect addition to your roastery. Throw in 32 lbs of green, and get 25 lbs of roasted coffee in 7-8 minutes. With a 3-minute cool time, you can eke out four roasts per hour (as reported directly from Sivetz).
Here's the history on this one: Purchased new in 1999, it started its roasting life in Alaska. It churned out batch after batch of beans — up to 20 roasts a day (!) — in two different locations in America's "last frontier" for 12 years.
Then, in 2012, it got a complete facelift. Apart from a full disassembly and cleaning, it also underwent the following fine-tuning:
- The burner was replaced with a Ransome burner.
- The Firebox top and damper disk were re-welded and reinsulated.
- The water solenoids, spray heads, and damper control module were replaced.
- A new orifice, hot and cold pipe were added.
Once back in working order, this roaster went on to roast for six more years, logging no more than 20 roasts on it until it went into dry storage in 2018.
Now located in the contiguous Pacific Northwest, this machine has been shrink-wrapped and palletized in anticipation of a new buyer. It's currently set up to run on propane but has run on natural gas before. Conversion kits are available at www.grainger.com. And while it's configured for 220v // single phase, it comes with a 220v // triple phase plug, if needed.
A couple of things worth noting: The cooling tray has no stirring arms. Also, this machine does not come with an afterburner. However, we have new and used afterburner options available. (Don't forget to talk with us about our "bundle and save" equipment packages.)
Plus, a bonus! The seller is willing to hop on a call to go over roasting and refurbishing history and answer questions.
