1/2 Bag (35kg) Sivetz Used Coffee Roaster
With Cooling Tray
2006 Model — Very Well-Maintained!
Confession: At the 2023 SCA show in Portland, OR, we had to do a double-take when we visited the Sivetz booth. We were blown away by the new sleek and modern design dominating the showroom floor—an update shepherded by Michael Barthmus, the innovative mind behind Sivetz today. If you know anything about Sivetz, then you'll know it famously has never been the prettiest roaster on the block (at least, until now), but it sure delivers consistently knockout coffee. It's what's on the inside that counts, right?
Michael is dedicated to empowering roasters to craft the perfect cup of coffee while minimizing environmental impact, a vision shared by another Michael—Michael Sivetz all the way back to 1974 when he created the Sivetz brand to champion the many merits of fluid-bed roasting.
If you've jumped on the fluid-bed bandwagon and need a serious no-frills roaster that completely understands the assignment, then this 2006 1/2-Bag (35kg) Sivetz used coffee roaster might fit the bill. Per Sivetz's website, you can roast 55 lbs in about 8 minutes, with 3 minutes of cool time in the cooling tray. At four roasts an hour, that's some serious output!
Here's the history on this one: Purchased new in 2006, it has reported for roasting duty day in and day out until earlier this year. It's been able to maintain such a rigorous 18-year track record due to regular cleaning, maintenance, and updates, including:
- Burner replaced with Midco burner
- Replaced green vacuum motor
- Annual maintenance included pulling off the top, scraping it out, and replacing hot pipe and cooling tray pipe as needed, along with rockwool under stainless sections.
- Replaced cooling tray motor and blower motor (going from single to 3-phase). Electrician installed variable drive.
-
Note: The slide gate is electrical (pneumatic).
It's currently set up to run on propane but has run on natural gas before. Conversion kits are available at www.grainger.com. And while it's configured for 220v // single phase, it comes with a 220v // triple phase plug, if needed.
A couple of things worth noting: The cooling tray has no stirring arms. Also, this machine does not come with an afterburner. However, we have new and used afterburner options available. We've also got new bean loaders to help make that task easier. (Don't forget to talk with us about our "bundle and save" equipment packages.)
Plus, a bonus! The seller is willing to hop on a call to go over roasting and refurbishing history and answer questions.
