Every so often, we're asked to help sell a used coffee roaster that shows zero indication that it's a pre-owned machine. It's as if it's just been uncrated and plugged in — spotless and spiffy and, as the saying goes, practically clean enough to eat off of. 

And that's exactly what we have here with this fully automated 2017 Diedrich IR-5 with matching catalytic afterburner. When we say it is immaculate, pristine, and squeaky clean, we mean it. Just look at the photos and video. It's almost hard to believe this roaster has been put to work roasting coffee from around the world, if it weren't for the great customer reviews it has generated.

So, what's the story? Our sellers purchased this black beauty brand-new in 2017 but didn't fire up their roastery until 2019. In the resulting five years, it has only logged around 330 hours total—an average of just 5.5 hours a week! Coffee roasting was a passion project for these sellers, and as life tends to go, sometimes bigger priorities force us to streamline. That's the case here, but their life edit can mean an expansion opportunity for you.

It's also important to point out the 1-2 punch you're getting with full automation. That means a combination of automated software for roast profiling AND mechanical automation that allows you to practically "set it and forget it" — choose a roast profile, drop your green, and watch it go through the paces. At the finish line, the roasted beans auto-drop from the drum into the cooler, the cooler fan switches on, and the cooler agitator arms start rotating to cool those beautiful beans.

This one is set up for natural gas fuel and powered by 110v. Conversion kits to propane are available directly from Diedrich. This 5kg machine has 50,000 BTUs. As is highly evident, it has been thoroughly cleaned and serviced on a regular schedule.
